Art Nouveau Plique-a-Jour Necklace
Circa 1900. This fabulous Art Nouveau sterling silver pendant necklace features a plique-a-jour design using green enamel centered around a bezel-set cushion-cut green glass doublet. Plique-a-jour translates to "light of day" and refers to an enamel technique that does not use any type of backing, so light can shine through - much like stained glass. The chain measures 16 inches in length.
