Circa 1880. This Victorian 18KT gold ring features a richly-hued carnelian intaglio carved with a graceful bird—likely a crane or heron—captured mid-flight within a stylized landscape. The composition reflects the influence of the Aesthetic Movement, when Victorian designers embraced Japanese art and symbolism, favoring natural forms and quiet, poetic imagery over more rigid traditional motifs.
