c1910 Silver Enamel Open Locket
Circa 1910. This beautiful Arts & Crafts Era silver locket features an open-faced design with lovely green and blue enamel embellishments. The locket was crafted by Liberty & Co., an English jeweler famous for popularizing the Arts and Crafts style. A.L. Liberty opened a shop in 1876 that became so popular he opened a sister shop in Paris in 1890. Liberty's pieces were mainly silver and featured hand-hammered surfaces embellished with stones (citrines and pearls, for example) and brightly colored enamels. The designs often featured wavy lines, flowers, vines, Celtic knots, and geometric and linear interlacing.
