Georgian 5-Garnet Ring

Circa 1820. This beautiful Georgian ring features five foiled-back garnets totaling approximately 0.80 carats. Set in warm 14KT gold, the garnets display deep wine-red and purplish hues that come alive in changing light.

Before modern gemstone cutting and electric lighting, foiling was used to increase brilliance and intensify color, allowing gemstones to shimmer beautifully in the glow of candles and hearth fires.
