Georgian Floral Garnet Ring

Dating to circa 1840, this 18KT and 9KT gold ring is designed as a richly dimensional flower, centered by a large faceted garnet surrounded by eight smaller garnets forming its petals. This ring is especially interesting in profile. The central garnet rises prominently above the surrounding stones in a crown-like setting, giving the flower depth rather than presenting it as a flat cluster. Beneath, the shoulders transition into sculptural foliate forms, allowing the botanical design to continue beyond the flower itself.

Although Queen Victoria's reign began in 1837, early Victorian jewelry continued many Georgian traditions in gemstone cutting, setting, and construction.
