Midcentury Diamond Cluster Engagement Ring
Dating to the 1950s, this midcentury 14KT white gold cluster ring features a central 1.00-carat round brilliant-cut diamond with SI1 clarity and L color. Surrounding the center are ten round brilliant-cut diamonds with SI1–SI2 clarity and H–I color, arranged in a closely set, scalloped cluster. A polished white gold shank provides a simple contrast to the diamond-set crown.
The slightly warmer color of the central diamond distinguishes it from the surrounding stones, while the closely spaced settings create the impression of a larger, continuous surface of diamonds.
Diamond cluster rings became especially popular during the mid-20th century, when jewelers used arrangements of smaller brilliant-cut diamonds to create volume, sparkle, and visual impact. This ring illustrates how a carefully constructed cluster can give a single center stone a much broader presence.
Appraised Value: $9,550
The ring measures 13.9mm wide and 1.2mm tall at the top, tapering to 1.2mm wide and 1.4mm thick at the bottom of the shank.
We size the majority of our rings; sizing takes approximately two weeks and is no additional cost to our clients with the occasional exception.
