Art Nouveau Moonstone & Diamond Necklace
Circa 1900. This captivating necklace embodies the ethereal beauty that made Art Nouveau one of the most beloved design movements in jewelry history. Crafted in sterling silver-topped 14KT gold, the pendant features graceful, flowing curves adorned with old European-cut and old mine-cut diamonds totaling approximately 0.80 carats. Three delicate seed pearls sway beneath the openwork design, while a luminous moonstone cabochon weighing approximately 0.90 carats forms the centerpiece of the composition. The diamonds exhibit SI2-I1 clarity and H-I color.
The necklace's sinuous lines and organic silhouette are hallmarks of the Art Nouveau aesthetic. Long associated with intuition, feminine energy, and new beginnings, the moonstone became a favored gemstone among Art Nouveau designers seeking to evoke the beauty of the natural world.
Appraised Value: $5,500
Measuring approximately 43mm by 41 mm, the pendant is suspended from a 17-inch platinum chain.
