Art Deco 1.52-Carat Diamond Engagement Ring

Dating to circa 1930, this Art Deco 18KT white gold ring features a 1.52-carat old mine-cut diamond secured in a four-prong setting. Three bead-set round single-cut diamonds accent each shoulder, bringing the total diamond weight to 1.61 carats, with VS1–SI1 clarity and H–K color.

The substantial center diamond is flanked by stepped rectangular panels, each containing a vertical row of three diamonds. Polished borders frame the smaller stones, creating a structured, symmetrical design that gradually narrows into the shank.

Art Deco jewelers frequently used stepped architecture and geometric repetition to give their designs a sense of order and proportion. Here, the rectangular shoulders provide a deliberate contrast to the softly rounded outline of the old mine-cut diamond, combining the character of an earlier diamond cut with the clean geometry of the 1930s.
