Victorian Bloodstone Fob

Circa 1870, this Victorian watch fob is crafted in 9KT yellow gold and set with a substantial oval bloodstone tablet. The dark green stone is naturally flecked with characteristic red inclusions and sits within a simple gold bezel above an ornate, sculptural mount with radiating detail.

Bloodstone, a variety of chalcedony, was particularly popular in 19th-century men’s jewelry and was frequently used for seals, signet rings, and watch fobs. Historically associated with strength, courage, and protection, its distinctive green-and-red coloration made it a favored hardstone throughout the Victorian era.
