Late-Midcentury Rhodolite Garnet Ring by Chaumet
Circa 1950. This sculptural 18KT gold Midcentury French modernist ring features a 2.67-carat oval mixed-cut natural reddish-purple rhodolite garnet secured into a four-prong head. The ring is signed Chaumet and is stamped with a French eagle hallmark. Founded in 1780, Chaumet is one of the oldest and most prestigious jewelry maisons in Paris, long associated with royalty and the haute joaillerie tradition. By the mid-20th century, Chaumet had embraced a more modernist aesthetic, crafting sleek, architectural pieces that still echoed the house’s commitment to refinement and innovation. Signed vintage Chaumet rings from this era are relatively rare—particularly those showcasing semi-precious gems like rhodolite garnet—and are sought after for their sculptural artistry and timeless elegance. The ring is approximately a size 8.75.
Appraised Value: $4,600
The ring measures 15.8mm wide at the top, rises 9.6mm above the finger, tapering to 1.5mm wide and 1.1mm thick at the base of the shank.
