Victorian Renaissance Revival Garnet Pendant Necklace

$3,900.00
SKU A20023

Circa 1870, this Victorian necklace is crafted in 15KT and 9KT yellow gold and centers on a large oval garnet cabochon framed by blue-and-white enamel floral motifs, with a luminous pearl at the center of a gold starburst. Delicate enamel petals and gold bead accents surround the pendant, which is suspended from a fancy 17.5-inch gold chain.

The design reflects the Renaissance Revival, often called Holbeinesque, which drew inspiration from 16th-century portrait jewels and favored bold cabochon stones, enamel decoration, pearls, and architectural goldwork. Popular during the mid-to-late Victorian period, these richly detailed jewels were prized for their color, craftsmanship, and historical references.

Condition note: One of the top enamel petals has a chip at the top edge.

The pendant necklace chain measures 17.5 inches in length.
