Circa 1970s Raymond Boyd Navajo Sterling Silver Bird Inlay Necklace

$900.00
SKU I26019

This sterling silver necklace by Navajo (Diné) silversmith Raymond Boyd features colorful abalone, turquoise, carnelian, mother-of-pearl, and opal inlay arranged in intricate bird and floral designs. Two circular panels depict hummingbirds in flight among flowers and foliage, while the central teardrop pendant features a red cardinal perched on a flowering branch. Smaller connecting panels display delicate floral motifs.

Each decorative element is linked to allow natural movement, while finely stamped geometric borders frame the larger panels. The combination of iridescent shell, colorful gemstones, and warm sterling silver creates a lively, detail-rich composition. The reverse of the central pendant is stamped “RAYMOND BOYD” and “STERLING.”

Raymond Boyd is known for his colorful bird imagery and detailed stone and shell inlay. His work reflects the Southwestern tradition of combining representational designs with precisely fitted inlay materials, creating jewelry that celebrates both craftsmanship and the natural world.

The necklace measures 20 inches in length.
