Dated 1907 Sapphire & Diamond Ring
Dated 1907. A graceful example of early 20th-century English jewelry, this 18KT gold ring was hallmarked in Birmingham, England. Three natural blue sapphires, weighing approximately 0.16 carats in total, are arranged in a graduated row, accented by two round single-cut diamonds totaling 0.06 carats, with I1 clarity and H-I color. The rich blue sapphires are framed by hand-applied bead settings, further accented with sculptural scroll motifs and fluted shoulders.
At the turn of the century, sapphire and diamond combinations were especially prized for their refined contrast. Sapphires have long symbolized wisdom, loyalty, and sincerity, while diamonds represent enduring strength and everlasting love.
Appraised Value: $2,600
The ring measures 6.7mm wide at the top, rises 2.6mm above the finger, tapering to 2.8mm wide and 1.0mm thick at the base of the shank. The inside shank is stamped with the maker's mark "NB" and Birmingham, England, gold hallmarks.
