Art Deco French Diamond Eternity Band

Dating to circa 1930, this French Art Deco eternity band is crafted in platinum and set continuously with 24 round Swiss-cut diamonds totaling 1.32 carats. Graded VS2-SI1 clarity and E-F color, the diamonds are bead-set around the band's entire circumference.

Swiss-cut diamonds occupy an interesting place in the evolution of diamond cutting. With fewer facets than the modern round brilliant, the Swiss cut was used extensively in late 19th- and early 20th-century jewelry, particularly for smaller stones. Its relatively simple faceting produces crisp flashes of light without overwhelming a design's architecture. In an eternity band like this, the diamonds work collectively rather than individually, creating a continuous surface of sparkle.
