Art Deco Spessartine Garnet & Diamond Halo Ring
Circa 1930. This striking ring is crafted in two-tone 18KT gold and features a richly colored 3.61-carat oval mixed-cut spessartine garnet. Displaying a deep, glowing orange-red hue, the garnet commands attention with its remarkable saturation and fiery brilliance, characteristics that have made spessartine one of the most sought-after members of the garnet family.
The vibrant center stone is framed by a halo of ten round single-cut diamonds set in white gold, creating a sparkling border that enhances the garnet's dramatic color. The diamonds weigh approximately .25 carats in total, with SI1-SI2 clarity and H-I color.
Spessartine garnets were particularly admired for their vivid, naturally occurring color and exceptional brilliance. Unlike many gemstones that rely heavily on treatment, fine spessartine garnets are celebrated for their inherent natural beauty.
Appraised Value: $4,900
The ring measures 15.8mm wide at the top, rises 6.9mm above the finger, tapering to 1.7mm wide and 0.7mm thick at the base of the shank.
