Art Deco Double Diamond North-South Ring
Dating to circa 1920, this Art Deco platinum ring features two vertically arranged, bezel-set old European-cut diamonds weighing 1.50 carats in total, with SI1–SI2 clarity and H–I color. An additional four old European-cut diamonds and six single-cut diamonds are bead-set throughout the design, totaling .25 carats, with VS1–VS2 clarity and G–H color. The combined diamond weight is 1.75 carats.
The elongated, pierced platinum setting is richly detailed with engraved scrollwork, geometric accents, and delicate milgrain borders. The openwork design extends across the shoulders, where smaller diamonds are incorporated into the ring's architecture.
Jewelry of the early Art Deco period often retained the delicate craftsmanship of Edwardian platinum work while introducing stronger geometric organization. This ring illustrates that transition particularly well, combining intricate engraving and openwork with a distinctly structured, elongated silhouette.
