Circa 1950 - 1960. This Danish Modernist bracelet by Niels Erik From (N.E. From) is crafted in sterling silver and set with six round amethyst cabochons. Each richly colored stone is bezel-set within a broad circular silver link.

Danish silversmith Niels Erik From established his workshop in 1931 and became known for jewelry that evolved considerably over the following decades. His earlier work often drew upon naturalistic Scandinavian traditions, while later pieces embraced the cleaner geometry and abstraction associated with postwar Danish Modernism. This bracelet belongs firmly to that modernist vocabulary: repeated forms, restrained ornament, and an emphasis on the inherent qualities of silver and stone.

Signed FROM 925S, the bracelet is a wonderful example of a designer allowing simplicity to do the heavy lifting. Six stones, six circles, one repeated idea, and almost nothing extraneous.
