Victorian 9KT Braided Keeper Ring
Dated 1889; Birmingham, England. This beautiful Victorian "keeper" ring features a 9KT gold braided design. The keeper ring was fashioned to keep a more expensive ring from accidentally slipping off your finger. As diamond rings became more popular, various styles of keeper rings were used to protect the ring - gold bands, enamel bands, diamond bands. The keeper ring eventually evolved into the wedding band. This ring is currently a size 6.75.
This ring measures 8mm wide at the top, tapering to 3mm at the bottom of the shank. It is currently a size 6¾.
We size the majority of our rings; sizing takes approximately two weeks and is complimentary for most pieces, with the occasional exception.
