Victorian Cameo Depicting the Goddess Amphictyonis

Circa 1900. This beautiful Victorian lava cameo depicts Amphictyonis, the goddess of friendship and wine. Amphictyonis was thought to be the surname of Demeter, the Greek goddess of agriculture. The cameo is bezel-set within a gold-plated sterling silver frame. The frame is finished with a pin stem and fold-down bale.
