Circa 1910 Silver Meyle & Mayer Locket (with Chain)

Circa 1910. This beautiful blue guilloche locket is signed Meyle & Mayer, founded in 1887 in Pforzheim, Germany. They were well known for creating outstanding high-end jewelry. Sadly the factory was destroyed in WW2, which ended the business. In this exceptional locket and chain, the engraved base metal is covered with powdered enamel, which melts in high heat and allows the intricate pattern to shine through. Faberge was famous for using this technique with his popular Easter eggs. The chain measures 33 inches in length.
