Circa 1810 Georgian Hair Ring
Circa 1810. This unusual 18KT gold Georgian mourning ring features a glass window filled with woven blond hair. The enamel setting features a funeral urn. Inscribed on the back of the ring are the words: "Mary Vaughn died 15 Oct 1810 aged 85." Georgians and Victorian honored the memory of their loved ones with keepsake jewelry that often included a place to keep a lock of hair that belonged to the deceased.
This ring is approximately a 10.5.
