1980s Imperial Topaz and Diamond Ring

Circa 1980. This gorgeous vintage ring features a stunning 9.91-carat cushion mixed-cut natural Imperial topaz set into an 18KT yellow gold four-prong head. The topaz is accented on each side by one triangular modified brilliant-cut diamond. The diamonds weigh .90 carats in total, with SI1-SI2 clarity and I color. The ring is signed Burle Marx. Haroldo Marx was one of the successful Brazillian Burle Marx brothers. As a gemologist, lapidary, and designer, he ran a jewelry studio from the 1930s to the 1980s in Rio. During this time period, the Brazilian government commissioned Haroldo to design jewelry pieces for every visiting dignitary.

The ring measures 12.8mm at the top, rises 9.2mm above the finger, tapering to 1.4mm wide and 0.8mm thick at the base of the shank.
