Victorian Cameo/Pendant Depicting Helios

Circa 1890. This lovely Victorian brooch features a cushion-shaped polished, translucent sardonyx topped with a cameo depicting Helios, the sun god, in a chariot drawn by roosters - who announce the arrival of the sun. The 14KT yellow gold cushion-shaped frame has a pierced design. The brooch is finished with a hidden jump ring to allow the item to worn as a pendant.
