I am an enormous fan of animal jewelry and symbolic jewelry! This piece is both. In ancient Egypt, it was believed Ra, the sun god, rolled across the sky each day transforming bodies and souls. The scarab came to be a symbol of this journey. This particular piece dates from the 1920's when King Tut's tomb was excavated and there was a craze for everything Egyptian.

Old Mine Cut Diamonds date from the mid 1800’s through the 1900’s and are most often found in Georgian and Victorian jewelry.
